Sunset on Blackstone Edge

Great Videos From The Area

Here I’ve added embeds of others’ videos which have helped me with my climbing in the area, and which I enjoy watching now and again in their own right. My video almost certainly wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for other people doing similar things first.

The wild, wild moors: Blackstone Edge

Andy Emery

Possibly my favourite, but only available on Vimeo. You may have to sign up and verify your age these days. Features some climbs done by Robin Müller. The only place I’ve seen Blackstone Best, No Pocket No Cry, Pocket Arete, Nick’s Traverse, and Udge Repellent done. All set to a really nice (perhaps original?) soundtrack.

Blackstone Edge Bouldering

Quarriseur

A cracking video from Robin Müller featuring climbs that are mostly a bit out of my league (although I am able to cheat a little at Home Improvements, skipping the small hold). Set to Arcade Fire’s Sprawl II, a cracking song for the video.

Slaps ‘n’ Mantles

Tor & Edge

A fun one, featuring a lovely shot of Stan Hunter somehow climbing Blackstone Slab and Be Skillful at the same time! Plenty of hard stuff too, and another great soundtrack.

The Best Boulders at Blackstone Edge

Bouldering Ollie

A nice one for me, as Ollie has taught me climbing technique over a few sessions at Blochaus – an improver’s course, and a dynamic movement masterclass. This was probably the first Blackstone video I watched. The only place I’ve seen Leaning Slightly Left Of Sloper and Softly Softly done.

Blackstone Edge Bouldering

Robert Gardiner

A really nice video which I’ve come to again and again for beta. A great example of Concavity Cons Gravity, and the only one I’ve seen so far containing a Naomi’s Wall ascent.

Blackstone Edge Revisited

Quarriseur

Another from Robin, a short one consisting entirely of climbs I’ve not seen in any other video: Tricepatops, Confessed Obsessed, Game Of Groans, and Ugly Duckling.

Stony Edge Mellow Times

Quarriseur

A lovely chilled video including some lower grade climbs, and a fun challenge: The Hump.

Stony Edge Sevens

Quarriseur

Some of the harder problems at Stony. Longship, Argle Bargle, and Beach Mechanics are problems I don’t remember seeing done anywhere else.

A Few Problems At Stony

Quarriseur

A few, but all problems I’ve not seen done anywhere else. All look to be solid 7s.

Stony Edge bouldering

Rick Ginns

A nice video including some of the beach and back edge problems, and also an ascent of The Kingdom Of Slope.

Stony Edge

GCW

Another nice Stony Edge video which also covers some of the beach problems, as well as a couple on The Big One, and a couple on the RB Slab.

Moorland Shuffles & Gritstone Scuffles

Alex Humphrey

How did that get in there?!
